The 24-Hour War is a conflict largely between the Raven-led organization Vertex and Alliance, a conglomerate formed from the remains of Crest Industries, Kisaragi, and Mirage following the devastating end of the Navis Conflict wherein unmanned suicide weapons wreaked havoc across the globe after they were inadvertently activated by Kisaragi.

History[]

Six months after Alliance's formation and subsequent domination over the rebuilt world, the Raven Jack-O, then-leader of the now-defunct Ravens' Ark who was presumed dead in the catastrophe, resurfaces in a public presentation to unveil Vertex, his rebel group seeking to wrest control from the corporations. Seeking to bring about a new world order for Ravens, by Ravens, Vertex announces a large-scale assault that promises to shatter Alliance completely. In response, Alliance places bounties on all the Ravens aligned with Vertex, causing Jack to follow suit. Even neutral Ravens — the "Independents" — are assigned bounties, leading to Ravens hunting one another for money. An intense struggle ensues as numerous factions make their move before all hell breaks loose in the twenty-four hours before Vertex's planned offensive.

Behind the scenes, Jack-O prioritizes the rising threat of the Pulverizers, dangerous enigmatic weapons that appear midway through the conflict to destroy indiscriminately. Jack-O aims to shut down their source, the Internecine, a mysterious underground facility producing not just Pulverizers but also the Unknowns, the unmanned suicide drones that previously brought mankind to the brink of destruction.

In the aftermath, the Internecine is disabled but deep within it remains one last active Pulverizer, the most advanced one so far. An unknown party dispatches the "Last Raven" to eliminate it, which they accomplish.[1]

The 24-Hour War and the events surrounding it are the plot of Armored Core: Last Raven. Its outcome depends on the player's actions. However, the final mission, unlocked after all others have been completed, has the player character (identified then as the "Last Raven") head into an inactive Internecine to defeat the game's hidden final boss, an upgraded Aerial Pulverizer designed to be the ultimate test in the Armored Core games up to that point.
