Armored Core 4/Simulator

In Armored Core 4, the Arena is called "Simulator". The player faces off against 39 enemy NEXTs affiliated with different companies, with the exception of Amazigh and Sus. The Arena is split up into Data Packs which are determined by NEXT affiliations. After selecting an opponent, the player is granted the ability to determine the battlefield.

When a NEXT is defeated in a Data Pack, the player is given a monetary reward, and an additional monetary award is granted for defeating all the NEXTs in a given Data Pack. Other rewards are also available, and include items such as exclusive AC parts, emblems, FRS Memory for tuning, and even new Data Packs.

In Simulation Mode, the player does not need to buy the parts in the schematic to use it; a schematic made entirely out of unpurchased, "DATA ONLY" parts can be used in Simulation without penalty. There is no penalty for losing in Simulation mode, and no cost for repairs or ammunition if the player wins.

Note: Lynx and NEXTs are stylized as "LINX" and "Nexts" in the English versions of Armored Core 4. The sequel, Armored Core: For Answer would later have these stylized as "Lynx" and "NEXTs."
