Asylum is a Raven appearing in Armored Core 3. He is ranked E-29 in the Arena.
AC Gigantes[]
Gigantes is a heavyweight bipedal AC equipped with an exceed orbit core, missile extensions, back mounted dual missile launchers, and grenade cannon weapon arms.
This AC is a cross somewhere between Shadow Age's Grinder and Royal Mist's Kaiser. Asylum is incredibly aggressive and uses a double combo dual weapon systems of grenade arms and back+relation missile array that can pack an incredible amount of force. The only problem with Asylum is that it is slow and has a very narrow sight lock. The exceed orbits partly make up for this, but only a bit. With so much thought put into power, it appears mobility has been forgotten all-together. That being said, Asylum is fairly well armored and can dish out serious damage against slower opponents.

Gameplay[]
In-Game Information[]
His AC is a product of a school of though that the best defense is a good offense. He likes to get in close and unleash a flurry of attacks on his opponents. Anyone familiar with his strategy usually hopes not to experience it a second time.
Strategy[]
This Ranker is one of the competent ones - he knows exactly what he wants to do in his Arena fights, and his AC reflects his intentions clearly. Asylum will, in no uncertain terms, attempt to kill you in the most blunt and primordial sense of the word. His tank-style twin-linked grenade launchers are absurdly powerful, and if you have ever been on the receiving end of an extension-enhanced volley of missiles - such as those carried by Gigantes - you will be aware that you will have only moments to live if you allow a second volley to land. He is also one of the rare EO core users that actually engage this function in battle, further enhancing his offensive potential when fighting him head on. Asylum will rush you from across the battlefield; he is not a quick opponent so this in itself is not something to fear, however, as long as you are within his line of sight and he has a lock, you are in a heap of danger.
Despite the above, there is a simple way to get around Gigantes' massive firepower - it is incredibly slow. Indeed, this AC is slow enough to be treated like a tank - and one of the heavier ones at that. Even a moderately quick AC can fly circles around him, and a hover AC is going to be just cruel via comparison. With this speed advantage, just avoid his front at all times and a fast AC may get through the match completely unscathed if enough attention is paid to avoid the exceed orbits. A very fast AC will be able to stay away from his front indefinitely with little ease - and then, chances are that after an initial missile volley or two from him, you will be free to harass Gigantes down into zero AP. Asylum is an especially easy missile target, so you might as well bring your own missile arms + relation extension on a lightweight AC, and bombard him with flanking attacks until he is done for.

Etymology[]
The name Asylum refers to a place of safety, a fitting name given the style of his AC.
The name Gigantes is the Latin, Spanish and Portuguese plural word for gigans (Latin) & gigante (Portuguese & Spanish), all of which means giant.
