"Attack the Watchpoint" is the final Chapter 1 mission in ARMORED CORE VI FIRES OF RUBICON.

In-game information[]

Combat zone: Northern Belius - Watchpoint Delta

Objective: Attack Base / Destroy Infrastructure
Reward: 380,000 COAM, Combat Log
Details: Eliminate the SG squad in the Watchpoint and destroy the device in the control center at the heart of the complex.

Walkthrough[]

The final mission of Chapter 1 that is split into three phases. Resupply is available after phase two is completed.

Phase One[]

This mission begins with the player overlooking a large raised platform complex in the middle of a sea. The first area has 6 PCA MT's and two large laser cannons on raised platforms to the left, all of which must be eliminated. The laser cannons are capable of long range fire, and can deal substantial damage against the player's AC; fortunately they have slow reload times with telegraphed shot indicators, and they can be avoided and ambushed by using the irregular geometry of the platform to avoid their line of sight. Additionally, players can ambush targets by staying at sea level and then ascending to catch the enemy off-guard.

The "Independent Merc Comms" data log can be found by dropping below to the waters in between Sector 1's buildings near the second laser cannon.

Once all the targets on the first area have been destroyed, players need to move on to the second area. This area consists of a large walled area, with one large laser cannon on the wall to the right, another laser cannon on the complex to the left, and 3 MT's. Players should utilize their speed to get to cover to avoid the enemy attacks, or destroy the defenders as fast as possible.

The "Wave Mutation Detected" data log can be found atop the large building between Sector 1 and Sector 2.

Upon destroying all enemies in the second area, players will be directed to move over an opening in the walls overlooking Watchpoint Delta, which will have a long bridge leading to it. A cutscene will play upon nearing the end of the bridge, introducing Sulla who is guarding the Watchpoint, and thus must be eliminated.

Phase Two[]

A one on one duel against Sulla, he has one repair kit.

The alternate version of this mission replaces the normal version if the player has satisfied the conditions to unlock the Alea Iacta Est Ending. During the fight against Sulla, there will be four additional mystery IA-27: GHOSTs supporting him with laser fire, and new dialogue from Walter and Sulla. The mission otherwise proceeds as normal before and after the duel.

After eliminating Sulla, players can now enter the Watchpoint by hacking through a marked door, leading them into a small room with a Resupply Point. Further into the room is the large central cavern where the control device is located; players need to drop down into the bottom of the cavern, and destroy the marked target at the center, consisting of an outer layer, and the inner core.

Destroying the control device will initiate a cutscene, which leads into an encounter with the mission's final boss, the AAP07: BALTEUS.

Phase Three[]

A boss fight. BALTEUS has 40110 AP and 1900 Attitude Stability, its Anti-Kinetic Defense is sightly higher than other types.

BALTEUS has a Pulse Armor generator that it keeps active at all times, players have to break it before dealing actual damage. Once the Pulse Armor is deleted, BALTEUS will be staggered once, then it reactivates the barrier some times later. Weapons with high PA Interference like the HI-16: GU-Q1 (unlocked after completing "Operation Wallclimber") is highly recommended.

The weaponry of BALTEUS mostly focuses on ranged attack, but it can quickly move to another place with powerful boosters, a counter measure against melee.

  • Gatling guns are BALTEUS' main weapons,
  • Launching a large amount of missiles is its most common attack.
  • A grenade cannon which deals great impact and damage.
  • For close encounters, BALTEUS has a shotgun that is able to fire multiple shots. When BALTEUS' AP reaches 50%, new attacks with flamethrowers have been added to its move set.
  • Assault Armor that only can be used once during the fight.

The mission is completed after BALTEUS is destroyed, and players will enter Chapter 2.

  • The Standard version and the Alternate version are considered two different missions under "Replay Mission", and are thus graded separately for the purposes of ranked completions.
