"Bring Down the Xylem" is a mission in Chapter 5 of ARMORED CORE VI FIRES OF RUBICON.

It is the final mission of the Liberator of Rubicon route.

Walkthrough[]

The mission initially seems simple enough, first is to disable the Xylem's two ramjet engines. However, after disabling the last engine, the player will face their last opponent: Handler Walter, who has been forcibly brainwashed by Arquebus Corporation's re-education center after he and 621 were captured during Arquebus' occupation of Institute City.

Walter is piloting an AC called the "IB-C03: HAL 826", a Rubicon Research Institute Ibis Series mech fully armed with various types of Coral weaponry, which is quite dangerous as Coral-based damage bypasses an AC's energy and kinetic resistances. However, most of Walter's weaponry excels in mid-long range, and it can be easy to wear him down by staying close and stunlocking him with high-impact weapons. A modicum of caution is advised with this strategy however, as he does possess Assault Armor and a Coral melee weapon, the IB-C03W2: WLT 101. As with other late-game AC boss battles, Walter can use up to three Repair Kits.

Once Walter is defeated, the mission concludes and the player will experience the "Liberator of Rubicon" ending. In addition, after entering NG+ or NG++, the player will be rewarded with the four frame parts of IB-C03: HAL 826.
