Appearances Armored Core Last Raven

Caspian/Goldie Gordon is a Raven in Ravens' Ark in Nexus and working for Alliance in Armored Core: Last Raven. He is ranked 15th in the Armored Core: Nexus Arena. He is a Raven that is especially notable for frequent build changes of his AC, Raging Torment.

Information[]

Caspian was a Raven in Ravens' Ark until it fell during the Attack of the Unmanned Suicide Weapons. He was one of the few Ravens to survive the event. Later, he becomes an important member of Alliance's Tactical Unit, and is considered one of their most highly regarded pilots. He works for Alliance because he likes the pay. However, he is considered overrated as most of his victories stem from factors other than his own skill.

AC Raging Torrent[]

AC Raging Torrent IV

AC Raging Torrent IV

Through the course of Armored Core: Nexus, Caspian/Goldie Golden alters his craft 2 times to perfect the design and the final version is seen in Last Raven. The unit is consistently a gold and purple machine, all of the 4 unit uses the same head part.

Raging Torrent I[]

The first model seen in Armored Core Nexus, it is a two legged heavy AC focused on high defense and is armed with a laser blade that shoots blade waves, a cluster missile launcher, inside napalm rockets, an orbit cannon and an arm-mounted large rocket launcher. Its weapon configuration is an odd one for sure, and Caspian's somewhat mediocre piloting skills makes this unit a massive pushover.

Raging Torrent II[]

The second model, Raging Torrent II is an odd amalgamation of parts. While retaining the iconic headpiece, it now uses a lighter core and a hover type legs, giving it better mobility. For weapons, it has a parry blade and burst missiles. Its lower defense stats are made up with a physical shield. The parts were chosen for their special effects and to keep opponents off balance.

Raging Torrent III[]

Variation of previous designs that proved to be flawed. This time around the pilot opted to go with a more standard and balanced part loadout. Now a middleweight two legged AC, Raging Torrent III uses a powerful energy sniper rifle as well as a wave blade and back mounted orbital cannons. The unit is also equipped with inside rocket launchers and defense is increased by shoulder mounted energy shields.

Raging Torrent IV[]

Heavyweight, two-leg model possessing superior defense stats. The pilot varies his attack strategies by using both EO and orbit cannon weapons. Raging Torrent IV features the same parts of the original Raging Torrent, albeit different weapons and arms part.

Strategy[]

Raging Torrent

The first Raging Torrent AC is relatively easy to put down. Despite being armed with a wide-range of weaponry, it uses them quite poorly, and it's odd choice of weapons heavily limit their effectiveness. Combine this with Raging Torrent's painfully slow speed and basic boost hopping maneuvers, it makes Raging Torrent a big pushover. His use of his SELENA EO core also eat up his energy quickly, leaving him with little energy to boost and move out of the way, making him an even bigger joke.

All in all, the first Raging Torrent is no threat. Pay no attention to his shots and hammer away at him with your own weapons, he will go down in no time.

Raging Torrent II

Raging Torrent III

A midweight bipedal with multiple energy weapons, Raging Torrent III is bound to consume energy very quickly while using its weapons. Another thing is that, this version of Raging Torrent III has poor cooling performance, so it's actually very easy to overheat him and keep him grounded. That way, he will be rendered defenseless and also be unable to rain down any shot at you.

He usually uses his sniper rifle (which is an energy-based one) from further ranges and his orbit cannons at shorter ranges. Keep away from him and his orbit cannons pose no threat. His sniper rifle does deal some damage but takes very long to reload and fire, not to mention it also drains energy at the same time. Use weapons with rapid-fire capability and high heat stress to keep him down and he won't be able to use his sniper rifle. He does tend to use his laser blade that fires blade waves but doesn't do a lot of damage, so you needn't worry about this too much. He also has shoulder shields but they consume energy as well, so it puts him at an even bigger disadvantage.

Overall, majority of weapons can take this guy down quite easily. As long as you can outclass him in firepower and mobility, you should do fine against him.

Raging Torrent IV

As a slow heavy weight without AMS, IV is very vulnerable to missile barrages. At longer ranges, he'll typically attack with orbit pods which are annoying and can deal some good damage if you don't get out of their way as they fire. You must be fast in order to evade the orbit cannons. His Core EO and SHADE2 are a deadly combination but as long as you keep pouring on missiles, he'll fall easily. He doesn't move around too much; also of note, his AC will heat up quickly with the correct weapons (namely micromissiles + FUNI extensions) so causing him to redzone is viable in open areas. The SELENA EO is a decent close range deterrent but fires slowly, making it not too hard to dodge at proper distance. The offhand GAST rifle is actually more of a concern most of the time due to the volume of fire it offers.

Blowing him to kingdom come with a tank is also easy to do. During the mission he's encountered, Destroy Raging Torrent IV, he is escorted by two OWL MTs who provide considerable support as well as constantly disrupting lock on. The best thing to do is to equip a tank with the DRONE, SELENA and SIREN3 and two KRSWs; be sure to have high VS ECM or this mission will frustrate you a lot. Destroy the OWL's first and then just start to pound him with the rifles and EO, he'll fall in no time.

Another strategy is to use the same head and radar on a medium weight and use a missile launcher and a plasma rifle. The plasma rifle will crack the OWLs easily and then turn the missiles and the remaining shots in the rifle on Caspian.

Overall, the biggest drawback of this machine is its limited agility. A fast AC is going to have a relatively easy time circlestrafing Raging Torrent IV, and then Caspian will struggle to counter. In addition, his long range firepower is mostly limited to HYDRA 2; keep avoiding the HARPY orbits and all you have to do is feint the missile volleys with single well-timed lateral sways. With his back weapons neutralized, this confrontation is reduced to avoiding the SHADE2, GAST and SELENA bursts, something that is reasonably achieved with good boost hopping routine. Do that better than Caspian, and he will be defeated soon enough.
