Arena profile[]
A skilled close range combatant, he prefers to use the weapons arms equipped on his AC when near an opponent and switches to either his laser cannon or missiles when fighting from mid to long-range. His ranking fluctuates at times, but not by much. |
Strategy[]
The following information is "gray area" content — it may not be completely factual, and/or falls under YMMV territory.
He will start off by overboosting directly toward you, either shooting a volley of missiles or repeatedly spamming his lineargun arms, both of which can deal serious damage if they connect--the latter can also cause instant overheating if you are ill-equipped, so make an effort to avoid those. While the multi missile of his can send an impressive amount of projectiles your way, they are limited to just two volleys, so avoiding them cleanly is critical. He may also switch to his laser cannon in the heat of the moment, and he's quite a good shot with that. To make matters worse, this particular laser cannon model is the strongest one, and also one of the most destructive weapons in the game as well. One shot from that gun can easily shave off a thousand AP of your AC. This is usually the most important part of the fight as Hell Stalker can either seal your fate then and there with his surgically precise laser cannon hits, or turn a losing battle for him around. Do not fool around with him, evasion takes priority as soon as you see him deploying his laser cannon.
Hell Stalker will usually use up his multi-missiles very early, and once he drops that he will make use of his flash mobility to start overboosting around you, blazing away with either his lineargun arms or the laser cannon. Try to keep track of his movements and move out of the way if you have to, Hell Stalker is fast enough to keep up even with lightweight ACs, so watch out. His agility makes him quite an annoying foe to keep a constant lock-on, and his frequent bursts of overboosts don't help. However, there is a catch: Hell Stalker has a subpar generator, which means he can't constantly jet about while using his laser cannon as it will deplete his energy rapidly. Take full advantage of this moment as Hell Stalker will be constantly fluttering his boosters to recover energy, leaving him with no dodging or evasion capability.
While Hell Stalker does sacrifice durability in favor of mobility, he isn't a meager pushover to conventional firepower, and can surprisingly stand up to more potent attacks. Though he is vulnerable to missiles due to lacking counters/defense for that weapon type, he does and will take evasive action once missiles are fired at him, so don't count solely on missiles to do the job for you. Due to his aforementioned mobility, it's more than likely not all of your missiles will connect, meaning you will need to have other weapons to finish the job. Since Hell Stalker is quick and agile, powerful but slow-firing weapons will struggle to find hits on him, while rapid-fire weapons do a better job of picking him off while you avoid his attacks.
A viable strategy for newer, unfamiliar players is to continually evade his continuous barrage of fire until he runs out of ammo, as Hell Stalker does have somewhat limited ammo count. Once he's out, Hell Stalker simply becomes an agile, light-footed nuisance that they will have to get rid of. Be advised however, that Corpse Pecker's mobility and accuracy can still make it a very pressuring battle, and avoiding his powerful laser or linear shots is not going to be so easy even in a faster AC.
In the mission, Corpse Pecker will appear after you have destroyed all of the target MTs. Whether the player has waited out the storm while doing so may be a factor, as the storm provides some breathing room as his targeting is temporarily disrupted. If not, you'll have to stay on your toes. Corpse Pecker abandons all defensive maneuvers in favor of aggressively rushing you while employing deadly use of all his weapons, in an effort to blitzkrieg you after a long battle with the MT force. Due to the somewhat open nature of the map, it makes you more vulnerable to becoming target practice for Corpse Pecker. Due to that, taking an Overboost core is vital to reposition yourself if a need arises. Strafe continually to avoid his shots, and since he will not take evasive action, there's no need to hold back. Hit him with everything you got, Corpse Pecker's aggressive nature means he will not care about taking damage while fighting. Just make sure you have enough ammo to defeat him and not fire blindly - Corpse Pecker retains his excellent agility and uses it to his advantage even in the mission.
In conclusion, Corpse Pecker is quite a formidable opponent, with ability that might even surpass that of those ranked above him. Taking him lightly would be a mistake. Experiment with different strategies to beat him, and he will eventually be reduced to a smoking husk.

Trivia[]
- Should you take too long in defeating him in the mission Archive Area Ambush, or you run out of ammo while facing him, a bomber will show up in helping you defeat him.
