Briefing[]

Our ground forces have suffered heavy losses during a recent wave of
Zio Matrix airborne mounted attacks. We have therefore decided to
eliminate the source of the problem.

The target is Zio Matrix's airbase located in the Horwick Mountains.
Plans for a retaliatory strike are underway and we would like you to
take part in the attack.

We request that you destroy the radar array protecting the airbase.
Once their monitoring network has been razed, it will be easy to wipe
out the base.

The success of the mission is dependent on the objective being
achieved before the base can rally its defenses. You must accomplish
your goal within the allotted time.

Dialogue[]

Operator: "Target destruction confirmed. Let’s head back to the base."

Armored Core 2 Another Age Destroy Radar Array

This can be a tricky mission if you are unwary. Although the mission never stated anything about there being enemies in the mission, there're in fact, multiple suicide drones that will spawn continually even after you destroy them. In reality, they're merely there to distract you from the main objective, which is to take out the radar dishes on top of each of the cliffs (there're 4 on each one). The dishes usually are destroyed in just one hit from the Moonlight blade, so having that will help greatly.

You may also take a rocket launcher, so you can destroy them from a distance and save some time. For the suicide drones, using a sniper rifle to pick them off is a good idea as they die in just one hit from one sniper round. Alternatively, a regular rifle will also shoot them down in one shot, if you can take the concession on the weapon range. Lastly, take note that the Suiciders do not explode on contact - actually, they have proximity fuses. This means that with some well-timed dodging, you might lure then into exploding, and then escape the blast radius if you are fast enough. It is a risky tactic, but it can work in a pinch, as well as letting you save some ammo.

Once you destroyed the radar dishes on one cliff, move on to the next cliff and do the same (pick off the suicide drones as you go). When traversing between the cliffs, position yourself in the middle and aim for the highest hangar entrance, then jump and Overboost as far as you can. If done right, you will land on the entrance ramp, and after some recharge you will be able to boost up on top of the next cliff (it is advised to turn back and face the chasm while recharging in order to intercept incoming Suiciders). Reverse-joint legs will make this part easier. Continue until all of the radar dishes have been destroyed.

Trivia[]

  • There is a time limit of five minutes for this mission.
  • There are a total of 12 radar arrays.
  • You will earn extra compensation for each Suicider destroyed.
