"Eliminate V.III" is a Chapter 4 mission in ARMORED CORE VI FIRES OF RUBICON. It is only available in New Game++ if the player has unlocked the conditions for the Alea Iacta Est ending, and appears as a third decision mission alongside "Intercept the Redguns" and "Ambush the Vespers."
In-game information[]
Combat zone: Watchpoint Alpha - Depth 3 Objective: Destroy Enemy AC |
Objectives[]
- Eliminate V.III O'Keeffe
Walkthrough[]
This mission takes place in the same map as "Underground Exploration - Depth 3," with the player starting out in the large ring above the generator. V.III will be approaching from the cavern's entrance, already alert. His AC: BARREN FLOWER, is a mid-weight tetrapod gun platform, armed with a plasma rifle, burst rifle, missile container, and vertical plasma missiles. He is adept at ranged combat, and uses his AC's maneuverability, and the terrain, to his advantage.
While players can choose to fight him in any of the platforms in the map, O'Keeffe has a habit of remaining in hover mode for most of the fight while sniping at the player with his plethora of ranged weapons, making close-combat at extremely difficult. Made even more difficult by the upper cavern's terrain that limits the ground they can land on.
It can be more expedient to lead V.III down to the bottom-most pit of the map to reduce the amount of area that his tetrapod AC can maneuver in. Alternatively, using a maneuverable AC armed with missiles and mid-ranged weapons to engage him in a shootout at the top is also a viable strategy.
Collectibles[]
- LOGHUNT:
- V.III O'Keeffe (Platinum)
Notes[]
- This mission only appears in the Alea Iacta Est route, which involves having done the "Escort the Weaponized Mining Ship" and "Coral Export Denial" missions only available in New Game++.
- This mission is the last one required to lock the campaign into the Alea Iacta Est ending. If players choose either "Intercept the Redguns" or "Ambush the Vespers" instead, the game will proceed down the path to do the other two endings, locking players out of the Alea Iacta Est route.
- In the mission briefing, ALLMIND lists four potential candidates for the Coral Release Project, two of which can be identified as Sulla and the player. O'Keeffe is not considered a candidate despite his former involvement.
- Completing this mission for the first time rewards the "ALLMIND" emblem for use on the player's AC.

Briefing | Ayre: This request comes from ALLMIND. True to form, they've sent us an encrypted message with top-level security. I expect it must be about Coral Release. ALLMIND: Augmented human C4-621—Raven. There is an obstacle to the project that must be removed. The target is V.III O'Keeffe, an Arquebus Special Intelligence officer. A second-generation augmented human, O'Keefe was once our ally within the corporations. But it seems he has had a last-minute change of heart—and means to betray us. You are to ambush the target during his Arquebus-ordered survey of Depth 3. His records will note death by misadventure. The Release Project must succeed. Only an exceptional augmented human can be the key. C4-621—Raven. ALLMIND is certain of your success. |

V.III O'Keeffe uses second repair kit | V.III O'Keeffe: You think you want Coral Release... but you don't. Shovel down your bland rations. Slurp your coffee-flavored sludge. Sure, it sucks—but that's being human. | - | - |
V.III O'Keeffe uses third repair kit | V.III O'Keeffe: Life on Rubicon sure does suck, huh. Don't tell me you like it here. Ayre: V.III...O'Keeffe. He may seem like a pessimist, but he lives for the way things are. A life that can't coexist with what we want. |
- | - |
Player AC destroyed | V.III O'Keeffe: ...You're chasing a possibility you can't understand. At least you'll die while you're still human. | - | - |
