"Escort the Weaponized Mining Ship" is a Chapter 1 mission in ARMORED CORE VI FIRES OF RUBICON. It first becomes available in a NG++ playthrough if the player has previously achieved the "Fires of Raven" and "Liberator of Rubicon" endings, and must be completed to achieve the "Alea Iacta Est" ending.

In-game information[]

Combat zone: Western Belius - Bona Dea Dunes

Objective: Escort Target
Reward: 500,000 COAM
Details: Defend the weaponized mining ship STRIDER, a key military asset of the Rubicon Liberation Front.

Objectives[]

  1. Head out to rescue weaponized mining ship STRIDER
  2. Annihilate enemy craft of unknown affiliation

Walkthrough[]

The mission starts with the player deployed in the vicinity of the EB-0309 STRIDER, but it is already under attack and will be destroyed before the player can close the distance. The culprits behind this act are revealed to be two Rubicon Research Institute IA-05: WEEVILs, who will emerge from the STRIDER's wreckage and immediately attack the player.

WEEVILs are highly dangerous due to their assortment of deadly weaponry and fast boost speed, and they are resistant to both kinetic and energy weapons, but explosive weapons like grenade launchers, missiles, and bazookas are highly effective. An easy way to dispatch them is using dual hand-missiles or bazookas to stun them, then use dual SONGBIRDS or EARSHOTs to finish them off instantly. Alternatively, a pair of WB-0000 BAD COOK flamethrowers can make short work of them as well.

Once both WEEVILs are destroyed, a second wave of four IE-09: HELIANTHUS machines will roll into the battlefield. The same weapons and strategy used against the WEEVILs also work with the HELIANTHUS as they are helpless once ACS staggered, however it is advised to stay airborne as much as possible to avoid their hard-hitting grinder wheels. Using tetrapod legs and hovering, or reverse-joint legs and constantly jumping, trivializes the encounter since HELIANTHUS have no aerial capability, but remain cautious of their flamethrowers and missiles.

This will be followed by a third wave with two more WEEVILs and two more HELIANTHUS. Repeat the same processes used with the first two waves. After these last four enemies have been destroyed, the mission is completed.

The player is penalized 500,000 COAM for failing to protect the STRIDER as tasked, but this is compensated by Handler Walter, so the player's maximum possible reward before ammo and repair expenses remains the 500,000 COAM that was advertised.

Dialogue[]

Condition English Japanese Audio
Briefing Handler Walter: Got a job for you, 621. ...We've received a request from the Rubicon Liberation Front.
Rubicon Liberation Front: Raven. Here's an operation that may be of interest to you. We want you to escort the STRIDER, a weaponized mining ship. There's no end to the corps' invasion. They've reached the Bona Dea Dunes in western Belius now. ...Before the invasion, the STRIDER was our mobile base for extracting and distributing Coral. We paid the Dosers a fortune to outfit it for combat—it's too precious an asset to lose. Hopefully, we can count on your assistance.
Handler Walter: Looks like we've got conflicting requests about the same ship... You'll be doing the work—you choose.
- -
Sortie Handler Walter: Chose the Liberation Front, did you? Whatever works to get your name out there. That's the benefit of being independent. - -
Mission start Handler Walter: Commence mission... Wait, someone's already attacking the ship!
RLF Mining Ship Crew: Wh-What is that thing?!
RLF Mining Ship Captain: Hold the line! We are Coral Warriors!
Handler Walter: Hnh?! Enemies on the radar! 621—they're coming!
- -
- Handler Walter: No ID. They're not Schneider MTs... Are those...C-Weapons?! ...Defend yourself, 621. They're not going to listen to reason. - -
- Handler Walter: Those are drone weapons made by the Rubicon Research Institute. ...Relics that survived the Fires of Ibis. - -
Destroying first two C-Weapons Handler Walter: Did you get them...? ...Wait, there's more. HELIANTHUS machines?! Don't take them head-on, 621. They'll tear you to shreds! - -
Enemy reinforcements arrive Handler Walter: We've got more incoming! - -
- Handler Walter: ...Way too many for a chance encounter. Focus, 621. I'll do the thinking. - -
Additional reinforcements arrive Handler Walter: HELIANTHUS machines, coming in hot! These are dangerous, 621. Knock them down and go in for the kill. - -
Eliminating C-Weapons Handler Walter: ...Looks like the last of them. Nothing on the long-range radar. You may have failed to protect the STRIDER, but you had a hell of an excuse. I'll look into this. You go home and get some rest, 621. - -
Post-mission conversation (If "Attack the Dam Complex" has been completed) V.II Snail: You must be the handler, I presume? For the independent mercenary Raven.
Handler Walter: Honored to make your acquaintance, V.II Snail.
V.II Snail: I understand you want to join Operation Wallclimber? You do realize that smashing up some old Institute relics hardly qualifies you. Know your place, you meager dog sitter. The answer is no.
Handler Walter: I hear you're deploying V.I again. Must be rough only having one good pilot to rely on.
V.II Snail: Oh? Are you suggesting your dog can take Freud's place?
Handler Walter: We've been through worse than this.
V.II Snail: ...Very well, then. We're also deploying V.IV... ...who's been equally brazen of late. Let's see how they both perform.
- -
Debriefing COM: One new message.
Rubicon Liberation Front: ...Raven. First up, let me apologize. That request to escort the STRIDER turned out to be something else entirely. ...I hear that those strange machines didn't come from the corps. Is there some other force that wants to see the Rubiconians fall...? Be careful out there, Raven. There's more to this.
