G5 Iguazu is a Redguns Armored Core pilot active on the planet Rubicon 3 during the Coral War.
He is ranked 19/D in ALLMIND's virtual Arena.
Biography[]
Iguazu was a backstreet gambler. Unfortunately, he often bet big and lost. His misfortune forced him to undergo Generation Four human augmentation in order to pay off his debts.
As a member of the Redguns, he often quarrels with his partner Volta and his recalcitrant nature earned him the ire of Michigan, which culminated with him picking a fight with his CO that ended up permanently disfiguring him. This hasn't completely dampened Iguazu's spirit however, and he will still occasionally throw shade at Michigan's comments from time to time, which his CO will fire back with his own scathing retorts.
Despite their bickering, both Iguazu and Volta are friends, signified with both of them sporting beetle-themed emblems. He and Volta also made a pact of punching the living daylights out of Michigan and leave the Redguns for good. Volta has given up on this endeavor, but Iguazu persistently is still trying to carry this act through.
During an attack on the Gallia Dam Complex, Iguazu would develop a burgeoning hatred and jealousy towards Raven, one of Handler Walter's hounds who would be given the rank G13. Despite their newbie independent status and having undergone the same surgery as he, their performance gained the adoration of the grizzled Hero of Jupiter and in turn, caused Iguazu to constantly challenge and attempt to defeat Raven to prove himself the better of the two.

Craft[]
AC HEAD BRINGER[]
Iguazu's AC is HEAD BRINGER, a red and dark teal bipedal that uses parts from Balam Industries and its subsidiaries. The frame is made entirely out of MELANDER C3 parts. HEAD BRINGER wields a linear rifle, a machine gun, a missile launcher and a pulse shield.
Near the end of the game, HEAD BRINGER's arms will be replaced with the MIND ALPHA arms and the pulse shield will be replaced by a LASER ORBIT, signifying his dealings with ALLMIND. He will also equip the ASSAULT ARMOR expansion.
Unlike Iguazu's hot-headed personality, he is a defensive type as he turns on the shield all the time, which makes the LUDLOW machine gun mostly unusable. This style gives him great defense ability at the cost of low damage output, he relies on the linear rifle and missile launcher. Modifications with ALLMIND parts significantly increases his firepower.
It should be noticed that the main tactic of all other Redguns members is simply crushing the enemies with overwhelming power, which Balam strongly approves.

AC MIND GAMMA[]
Iguazu's second AC that he pilots at the end of the Alea Iacta Est route alongside ALLMIND. It is a mostly silver reverse joint assembly comprised mostly of ALLMIND parts; the only parts retained from HEAD BRINGER are the left handheld machine gun and pulse shield, having swapped out the linear rifle and missile launcher for a KRSV multi energy rifle and an ORBT laser orbit, respectively.
Iguazu keeps his slow but safe combat style, but it is more powerful as he will fully charge the KRSV.

ALLMIND'S IB-07: SOL 644[]
In the "Coral Release" mission, Iguazu pilots a black, modified version of the IB-07: SOL 644 alongside ALLMIND in an attempt to eliminate and assimilate 621 and Ayre. After destroying AC MIND GAMMA in the first phase, ALLMIND-Iguazu will don this craft for the second part of the fight, albeit with different weapons than Ayre's, with ALLMIND's signature blue green energy, as well as being escorted by two IA-13: SEA SPIDERs. Unlike Ayre's version, this version lacks the ability to transform into a jet, but still retains cannon mode and has propulsion resembling wings, thematically representing Iguazu also "flying on borrowed wings". These boosters give him the ability to essentially dash and warp up and down, but can overheat if used too much, causing him to stop in place and render him vulnerable to attack. It is equipped with dual weapons on each arm, capable of repositioning between rotary gun and laser/pulse claws. He can also charge them up to fire large beams of energy.
During the second phase, Iguazu unleashes a massive burst of resonance. While this has no effect on the player, it disrupts the sync Ayre and ALLMIND have with their mechs and forces them out of the battle while destroying the accompanying SEA SPIDERs. From here, he changes his tactics to be far more aggressive, overcharging the dual weapons to form massive green colored blades of energy capable of firing blade waves. He'll also reconfigure the weapons to block melee attacks with a rudimentary shield and counter with a swipe of his blades.

Gameplay[]
In ARMORED CORE VI FIRES OF RUBICON, G5 Iguazu is an NPC that can be fought in the Records division of the Arena and missions.
In the first playthrough, he along with Volta appear as ally ACs in Attack the Dam Complex, but in subsequent playthroughs, the alternate version gives the player the opportunity to choose to side with the Rubicon Liberation Front mid-mission and attack the Redguns instead. Completing the mission under this trigger will unlock additional missions towards a route where he will become a recurring antagonist, later appearing in Stop the Secret Data Breach. He later appears as an ally partner one last time during Destroy the Ice Worm, but can potentially be knocked out of commission during the mission. If the player did not accept RLF's offer at the beginning of the game, he will appear one last time in Underground Exploration - Depth 2 as the midboss encounter. In the alternate mission, Coldcall will take his place.
Accepting the RLF's offer on New Game ++ will unlock the aforementioned Alea Iacta Est route. He will appear one last time in his AC HEAD BRINGER in a three way fight between the player and V.II Snail in the alternate version of Reach the Coral Convergence where both Snail and Iguazu must be defeated. He appears as the final boss in Coral Release, piloting the AC MIND GAMMA for the first half of the fight and a unique bipedal mech flanked by altered SEA SPIDERs. In the latter half of the second phase, Iguazu overrides ALLMIND's control and takes over the mech himself, but he is defeated once and for all by Raven, with his mech explodes in front of Raven and Ayre. It is also in this fight that he reveals that he's been hearing Coral voices, but curiously, he was hearing Ayre's.

Translation differences[]
Iguazu refers to 621 as "stray dog" (野良犬) in the Japanese script, which is instead "freelancer" in the English version.
Trivia[]
- Iguazu is the third rival antagonist in the franchise, succeeding Stinger and Evangel.
- Like his predecessors, Iguazu develops a growing inferiority complex towards the player to the point where he sacrifices his humanity and abandons his AC to merge with a unique mech to try and take down his rival.
- Whilst piloting ALLMIND's AC in the second phase of Coral Release, Iguazu flies using the IB-07's wings. Since he is technically borrowing it from ALLMIND, in a sense, Iguazu is also "flying on borrowed wings" like 621.
- Iguazu is an oddity amongst Gen 4s since the known side-effects of older augmentation procedures is being emotionally withdrawn and loss of humanity. This contrasts to his hot-headed behavior and flippant attitude, along with the being able to strike up a casual friendship with G4 Volta.
- Additionally, his AC piloting skills do not seem to have improved beyond a regular pilot given he is near-bottom of the Redguns' hierarchy and G1 Michigan's dismissal over him, despite being the only augmented human formally in the squad.
- Iguazu is also the name of a river and a waterfall. Curiously, the Iguazu Falls is the largest waterfall system in the world, which ironically contrasts Iguazu's small and petty personality.
- Upon closer inspection, HEAD BRINGER in Underground Exploration - Depth 2 and the alternate version of Reach the Coral Convergence is modified to include parts that would later be used on the MIND GAMMA, implying that Iguazu may have met ALLMIND at some point or was at least given parts from it.
- The AR-012 MELANDER C3 arms have been replaced with 04-101 MIND ALPHA arms.
- The DF-GN-06 MING-TANG generator has been replaced with an Arquebus generator as evidenced by the blue flames.
- The SI-27: SU-R8 pulse shield has been replaced with a 45-091 ORBT laser orbit. However, the shield is equipped again on MIND GAMMA.
- The upgraded HEAD BRINGER also utilizes Assault Armor; this addition seems to be unique to the iteration of HEAD BRINGER fought in the aforementioned missions, as MIND GAMMA utilizes Pulse Armor instead.
- As the briefing of Underground Exploration - Depth 1 shows the HEAD BRINGER is not modified with ALLMIND parts, Iguazu is likely start working for ALLMIND and attack Balam forces when he enters the heat exchanger section.
- Like Otsdarva who later becomes Maximilian Thermidor, Iguazu gets a brand new reverse-joint legs AC with similar weaponry as time flies.
- Iguazu is the only active Redguns member who doesn't have a split missile launcher.
- The way Iguazu gets the augmentation is similar to how the players can obtain Human PLUS in the first Armored Core: lose lots of money and have to pay the debt.
