Appearances ARMORED CORE VI FIRES OF RUBICON

The IA-05: WEEVIL is an Enemy MT in ARMORED CORE VI FIRES OF RUBICON, manufactured by the Rubicon Research Institute. These are unique, high-threat MTs that are powered utilizing coral generators, making them C-Weapons.

They are large, bipedal unmanned MTs referred to as "Drones" by Walter, with powerful tank treads mounted to the back of their lower legs and lower back. They kneel down to lower all 4 treads to the ground, allowing them to rocket around at insane speeds, but only forwards. Because of this, their upper body is on a swivel, allowing them to see and attack regardless of their leg's direction. Although their legs most often function similar to an AC's tank treads, they can use their proper legs to leap from the ground in order to perform a powerful kick against the player, similar to reverse-jointed legs. Although rarer, they can also perform a horizontal kick against nearby enemy.

Although old and notably rusting, due to their power source being Coral, they've been able to maintain functionality for over 50 years. Due to the coral converging in Institute City, any and all Coral controlled machines have been turned hostile against potential threats.

Despite their advanced generators, the WEEVIL uses traditional kinetic and explosive weaponry. All variants are armed with a twin light cannon on their right side, as well as a massive amount of spread missiles in their right and left shoulders, which they open up to fire a massive barrage before needing to reload.

The left arm can be equipped with 3 different armaments depending on where they are fought. These armaments include a powerful long-barreled cannon, a grenade launcher with impressive blast radius, and a vertical missile launcher.

Armament[]

  • Twin Light Cannons
  • Grenade Launcher
  • Long-Barrel Cannon
  • Vertical Missile Launcher
  • Spread Missile Launchers

Gameplay[]

The Institute MT appears as an enemy in only two missions: the non-alternate version of "Reach the Coral Convergence", where a Cannon and Vertical Missile Launcher variant remain dormant until the player picks up a log, and the New Game ++ mission "Escort the Weaponized Mining Ship", where four grenade launcher variants are encountered alongside multiple HELIANTHUS machines.
