The IB-01: CEL 240 is an autonomous craft of the Rubicon Research Institute's Ibis series of Coral-powered C-Weapons. It uses high speed and remote weaponry to overwhelm opponents in lightning-fast attacks.
History[]
IB-01: CEL 240 was created by the Rubicon Research Institute to protect Rubicon 3 from Coral-related disasters. After the Fires of Ibis and the collapse of the Institute, the CEL 240 and other Coral powered-machinery like the IA-02: ICE WORM are now "piloted" by the Coral consciousness within it.
During the Coral War — half a century after the Rubicon Research Institute's dissolution — the independent mercenary C4-621 finds the CEL 240 at the base of Institute City's Vascular Plant. The CEL 240 engages 621 to defend the Coral and is subsequently destroyed.[1]
Armaments[]
- 12 Coral Orbit weapons with 2-shot Burst fire; can also deploy several more and act as Coral Oscillator blades
- 2 Laser Blades with Wave capability; can also become two Coral Oscillators
- 2 Coral Oscillators in Boosters
Gameplay[]
In ARMORED CORE VI FIRES OF RUBICON, the CEL 240 is a boss NPC fought at the climax of Chapter 4's final mission, "Reach the Coral Convergence." The boss fight consists of two phases punctuated by a scripted event, and the second phase has moveset changes like additional Coral Oscillators. Defeating it ends the mission.
As of Regulation Ver. 1.02.1, its attacks have been adjusted.[2]

Speculation[]
The following information is "gray area" content — it may not be completely factual, and/or falls under YMMV territory.
- The Ibis Series is likely a reference to the IBIS of Armored Core: Silent Line.
- Since it's part of the Ibis Series and was created to deal with Coral-related disasters, it's probable that an Ibis Series like CEL 240 caused the Fires of Ibis, hence the name.
- Similarly, when Raven blows up the Coral reserve, the resulting fire is called the Fires of Raven, which supports the theory that an Ibis Series caused the original fires.
- A data log in Ayre's mission Historic Data Recovery reveals that Professor Nagai, an Insititute member, "deployed Ibis" roughly 47 hours before the incident. The log is found on an Ephemera AC.
