AC Coral Sky[]

AC Coral Sky

AC Coral Sky

Coral Sky is an exclusively close-range AC, equipped only with the best of blades, the MARS parrying blade and the infamous MOONLIGHT laser blade. Thanks to the DRAKE booster and powerful Overboost its core provides, Coral Sky is an agile AC with impressive aerial time lengths, although its lack of armor makes it a risque AC to deal with against the much more powerful ACs. It is equipped with OP-INTENSIFY, granting generous energy reserves and blade wave attack capability.

Gameplay[]

In-Game Information[]

A rare breed, Kalchas attacks almost exclusively with blade weapons. Because of this, his victory rate isn't high, but his unit does boast one of the most impressive flight durations of any AC in the Arena. He's a loner and keeps to himself.

Strategy[]

Kalchas is the final parry blade specialist in the Arena, and his MARS and MOONLIGHT duo of blades are a grave threat in melee combat. However, that is where his advantages end. If you do not agree to a strictly melee duel and bring any gun to the fight, Kalchas instantly becomes one of the easiest opponents in the Arena. Even if one is to disregard the pilot's choice to engage exclusively in melee, Coral Sky is simply a terribly built AC: it has paper-thin defences; no less than two radar units (one of which is a complete waste of energy and weight, and another is already of questionable usage for an AC that has to stay close at all times and has a radar-equipped Head anyway); and the most crippling of all, the weakest booster available in this game. This means that Coral Sky has virtually no speed for the one job its pilot wants it to do. This is a result of an internal conflict of the pilot's tactics: he wants to stay airborne most of the time, despite his AC of choice being a melee-only build that ought to be able to close the distance as quickly as possible. Nobody but the slower tanks are going to have any trouble kiting this guy.

In the end, Coral Sky is a pathetic mishmash of an AC that cannot do either any well; too slow for effective melee rush and laughably useless when airborne (and that is not accounting at all for what is to happen if you bring a long range-capable weaponry and simply aim up). Finally, Kalchas himself is a mediocre pilot and his melee combat skill is woefully lacking, leaving him alone in his niche that he cannot even excel at. You are not even going to notice that he is using OP-INTENSIFY, he is that incompetent. In comparison, Shadow Age is a more serious opponent than Kalchas.

On a final note: for those Ravens looking to learn how to more effectively use their close range weapons, Kalchas makes for a good partner to train with.
