Land Crabs are mass-produced Arms Forts manufactured by Global Armaments. The name comes from how the AF transforms into a multi-legged, crab-like form for battle or crossing difficult terrain. In this state, eight front legs and four rear legs may be used to move forward, backward, left, and right; otherwise, a Land Crab moves mainly through its continuous tracks.[1]
Its arsenal includes cannons, vertical missiles, and machine guns for interceptions. Six missile launchers are mounted on the sides below and between the main weapons. Land Crabs are one of the smaller land-based AFs so their firepower pales in comparison to behemoths like the Spirit of Motherwill; however, their ease of use makes them the most popular type of Arms Fort. Their prevalence can be said to be the biggest reason for the post-Lynx War decline of NEXTs.[1]
Owing to their popularity, Land Crabs are sold to other corporations then modified accordingly. For example, GA Land Crabs are equipped with high caliber cannons whereas Interior Union units use multi-laser turrets that each have 16 firing holes and are capable of rapid fire thanks to large cooling devices installed on the left and right of a turret; additionally, these are painted the company's color, silver.[3]
The sides of the AF also have large cargo spaces that are typically filled with Normal escorts for dangerous situations. A Land Crab cannot provide these with full-scale maintenance, so long-distance missions are inadvisable.[4]
Gameplay[]
Land Crabs are hostile NPCs in Armored Core: For Answer. They are first encountered in "Attack on Richland" where GA's Richland Agricultural Plant is attacked by one Algebra-commandeered GA Land Crab; two are present on Hard Mode. Next, two Interior Union Land Crabs and their escorts try to destroy a pack of GA large mobile fortresses in "Rescue GA Transport." Lastly, the Hard Mode variant of "Ambush Sphere Invasion Force" involves a GA Land Crab heading towards Omer Science Technology's Sphere facility.
