Laser Cannons are the bigger brother of the Laser Rifle, notably having higher attack power and lower ammo count.

Overview[]

First appearing in the original Armored Core, Laser Cannons featured high ammo, high power, and zero ammunition cost. They are very accurate and have good shot velocity. They are also much lighter (due to them not having ammo in a standard form) but feature high energy drain. This came at the price of requring non-quadruped and non-tank legs to kneel in order to use the weapon. The only known exceptions are Human PLUS users.

In Armored Core 3 all the way to Last Raven, laser cannons have noticably been reduced in power from their earlier incarnations but are usually still in line with the Grenade Launcher.

From Armored Core 4 to For Answer, laser cannons no longer have zero ammunition cost. Nonetheless, they are superb weapons thanks to their anti-NEXT capabilities, which allow them to ignore Primal Armor and do heavy damage.

Uses[]

MWC-LQ-15 in use

With the exception of the LX and the GEYRON3 introduced in Armored Core 3 and Nexus (LX is it's Nexus name) and Last Raven respectively, the Laser Cannon is a general use weapon, capable of weaking an AC or destroy hardened MTs. They are very effective in most cases of combat and are usually a bit better for more mobile designs than the Grenade Launcher or Plasma Cannon because of their light weight, relatively.

The exceptions are two extremely powerful weapons that are mentioned above. Both feature extremely low ammo capacity 10 and 6 respectively and they feature high amounts of damage, far higher than a standard Laser Cannon. That makes these weapons extremely effective against ACs due to their power and heat production when they hit. Typically these cannons can knock of 2000+ AP off of an AC, allowing their user to easily change the tide of battle.
