Appearances ARMORED CORE VI FIRES OF RUBICON

The MB-0202 TOYBOX is a type of Heavy MT enemy encountered in ARMORED CORE VI FIRES OF RUBICON, they are manufactured by RaD. They are used as extreme shock-and-awe units, capable of bursting down foes with astonishing levels of firepower, while being able to take very little themselves due to their flimsy, slapped together frames.

TOYBOX Mechs are skinny, unmanned, tripedal MTs that are stored in cylindrical containers, often bursting out to unleash fury on unsuspecting foes. They aren't very maneuverable on their spindly tripod legs, which are incredibly small, meaning they utilize boosters on their back to skate around to dodge incoming fire. Their more notable form of locomotion, however, is their ability to curl up into a ball and roll around, often using this to both dodge incoming fire, and setup powerful attacks against faraway opponents.

These MTs are absolutely bristling with weaponry, to an almost comedic degree, which is likely intentional considering their creator's general design philosophy. They have large arrays of gatling guns, 8 held in each hand. They also have 20 small guns plastered across their torso, lined up 4 at a time, which they fire all at once in the form of a massive shotgun-like blast. Their final armament consists of countless micro missiles, which they launch in a flurry, flying in all directions to find their target.

Armament[]

  • 16 Small Gatling Guns
  • 20 Single-Shot Guns
  • Micro Missiles
  • Pulse Shield Generator

Gameplay[]

They are first encountered, along with most of RaD's arsenal during the mission "Infiltrate Grid 086," which is the first time the 621 encounters RaD as an enemy faction. They appear several times later, often being utilized by the Junker Coyotes in their distinct pink color schemes. They can also be seen briefly as allies during the mission "Intercept the Corporate Forces," before being swiftly destroyed by the Arqeubus HC.

There is only one known variant of the TOYBOX, seen only once during the mission "Eliminate "Honest" Brute," this version has a powerful Pulse Shield Generator attached to its top, which it uses to prevent long range fire from hitting it, forcing the player to close the distance and be in range of its more deadly close-range weapons. This version, along with a hidden variant in the mission "Infiltrate Grid 086," are the only TOYBOX mechs with a distinct green-blue "eye," instead of the more common red light the rest have. It seems all enemies marked for the LOGHUNT Program have their eye-color replaced with ALLMIND's signature blue-green color.

Trivia[]

  • This enemy gets its designation during the mission "Heavy Missile Launch Support," wherein their inventor "Cinder" Carla refers to them as "TOYBOX Mechs." They're given the classification of Heavy MT when destroyed during missions, meaning they are indeed a form of unmanned Muscle Tracer.
    • Their name is likely a heavy hint to Carla's past and her love of making and designing toys when she still worked for the Institute.
  • During the mission "Infiltrate Grid 086," a hidden TOYBOX MT can be found with a distinct green-blue "eye," the reasoning or purpose of this is unknown.
    • It seems all enemies marked for the LOGHUNT Program have their eye-color replaced with ALLMIND's signature blue-green color.
  • They are likely inspired by the tripedal "Droideka" destroyer droids from Star Wars, which were tripedal robots with spindly frames capable of curling up into balls for enhanced mobility.
