OS Tuning is a game mechanic in ARMORED CORE VI FIRES OF RUBICON. Through spending OST Chips earned within the Arena, the player is able to purchase new abilities and passive bonuses for their AC.

In-game description:

Expend OST Chips in your possession to upgrade your AC's OS from the OS TUNING menu.


Acquisition[]

The OS Tuning system is unlocked upon completing either "Retrieve Combat Logs" or "Investigate BAWS Arsenal No. 2" (whichever the player completes first). Doing so also unlocks the Arena where the OST Chips are acquired.

Purchasable Upgrades[]

System Unlocks[]

  • Boost Kick - Unlocks the ability to perform a Boost Kick. Boost Kicks hit with heavy impact by combining the speed of an Assault Boost with the sheer weight of the AC.
    • Install: 1 OST Chip - Unlocks: Boost Kick
  • Weapon Bay - Unlocks the Weapon Bay feature for AC shoulders, allowing shoulder weapons to be replaced with additional hand weapons.
    • Install: 2 OST Chips - Unlocks: Weapon Bay
  • Weight Control - Unlocks the ability to sortie when AC is overburdened, and to manually purge weapons.
    • Install: 3 OST Chips - Unlocks: Weight Control
  • Manual Aiming - Unlocks the ability to perform manual aiming. Allows for manual reticle control, but practical usage calls for experienced technique.
    • Install: 2 OST Chips - Unlocks: Manual Aiming
  • Quick Turn - Unlocks the Quick Turn feature, allowing the AC to perform snap turns to side or rear directions.
    • Install: 1 OST Chip - Unlocks: Quick Turn

Core Expansions[]

  • Assault Armor - Unlocks Core Expansion: Assault Armor and allows it to be installed. Assault Armor creates a pulse explosion centered on the AC, canceling out incoming enemy fire and creating a damaging area-of-effect shockwave.
    • Install: 1 OST Chip - Unlocks: Assault Armor
    • Update . 1: 3 OST Chips - Additional Charges: Assault Armor
    • Update . 2: 5 OST Chips - Additional Charges: Assault Armor
  • Pulse Armor - Unlocks Core Expansion: Pulse Armor and allows it to be installed. Pulse Armor creates a pulse barrier that trails the AC, dramatically increasing defensive performance until it exceeds its durability or time limit.
    • Install: 3 OST Chips - Unlocks: Pulse Armor
    • Update . 1: 5 OST Chips - Additional Charges: Pulse Armor
  • Pulse Protection - Unlocks Core Expansion: Pulse Protection and allows it to be installed. Pulse Protection creates a pulse barrier in a fixed position, providing cover from enemy fire until the barrier reaches its durability or time limit.

    • Update . 1: 3 OST Chips - Additional Charges: Pulse Protection
    • Update . 2: 4 OST Chips - Additional Charges: Pulse Protection
  • Terminal Armor - Unlocks Core Expansion: Terminal Armor and allows it to be installed. Terminal Armor automatically triggers a pulse barrier when the AC's AP reaches its limit, greatly enhancing defense until the barrier reaches its durability or time limit.
    • Install: 5 OST Chips - Unlocks Terminal Armor

  • Kinetic Weapons — Fire Control Tuning - Optimizes fire control of AC and weapons to enhance all sources of kinetic damage, excluding melee weapons.
    • Install: 2 OST Chips - Kinetic Damage: +3%
    • Update . 1: 3 OST Chips - Kinetic Damage: +6%
    • Update . 2: 4 OST Chips - Kinetic Damage: +9%
    • Update . 3: 5 OST Chips - Kinetic Damage: +12%
    • Update . 4: 7 OST Chips - Kinetic Damage: +15%
  • Explosive Weapons — Fuse Control Tuning - Optimizes fuse control of AC and weapons to enhance all sources of explosive damage, excluding melee weapons.
    • Install: 2 OST Chips - Explosive Damage: +3%
    • Update . 1: 3 OST Chips - Explosive Damage: +6%
    • Update . 2: 4 OST Chips - Explosive Damage: +9%
    • Update . 3: 5 OST Chips - Explosive Damage: +12%
    • Update . 4: 7 OST Chips - Explosive Damage: +15%
  • Energy Weapons — Output Control Tuning - Optimizes power output of AC and weapons to enhance all sources of energy damage, excluding melee weapons.
    • Install: 2 OST Chips - Energy Damage: +3%
    • Update . 1: 3 OST Chips - Energy Damage: +6%
    • Update . 2: 4 OST Chips - Energy Damage: +9%
    • Update . 3: 5 OST Chips - Energy Damage: +12%

  • Melee Weapons — Drive Control Tuning - Optimizes drive control of AC and weapons to enhance all sources of melee damage.
    • Install: 3 OST Chips - Melee Weapon Damage: +5%
    • Update . 1: 5 OST Chips - Melee Weapon Damage: +10%
    • Update . 2: 7 OST Chips - Melee Weapon Damage: +15%
  • Direct Hit Modifier — Damage Tuning - Improves the precision of attacks against staggered enemies, increasing damage dealt by direct hits.
    • Install: 4 OST Chips - Direct Hit Damage: +5%
    • Update . 1: 6 OST Chips - Direct Hit Damage: +10%
    • Update . 2: 8 OST Chips - Direct Hit Damage: +15%
  • Access Speed — Optimization - Improves object access speed by optimizing hacking and override functionality.
    • Install: 2 OST Chips - Access Speed: +50%
    • Update . 1: 4 OST Chips - Access Speed: +100%

  • ACS — Dynamic Deflection Control Tuning - Improves the precision of ACS-based bracing posture control, reducing damage received from enemy attacks.
