Raven is an independent mercenary affiliated with Branch and an Armored Core pilot operating on the planet Rubicon 3 during the Coral War. Their identity and callsign are stolen by the independent mercenary C4-621.
They are classified under Phase γ-3 in ALLMIND's virtual Arena.
Biography[]
Raven is initially encountered in the aftermath of a failed sortie in the Contaminated City in the Southern Belius area, with their abandoned AC heavily damaged and lying on cratered soil. Other than its severed right arm and its destroyed right weapons, NIGHTFALL is mostly intact. Raven had been missing for long enough they'd been declared MIA by ALLMIND and had their license suspended. 621's handler, Walter, steals Raven's license shortly before a PCA helicopter attacks 621. After destroying it, 621 supplants Raven's identity from then on.[1]
During one of 621's contract sorties to destroy the PCA's AAS02: CATAPHRACT special forces weapon, it is unwittingly revealed by its pilot, who mistakenly believed 621 to be the original Raven, that the latter had been responsible for leaking information that led to the Arquebus Corporation and Balam Industries descending upon the planet to find Coral.
However, the original Raven is not dead. Sometime later, 621 is hired by Arquebus Corporation to help defend Old Bertram Spaceport from a stranded PCA fleet seeking to recapture the spaceport to refuel. By the time 621 arrives at the scene, the battle is already over and the Arquebus defenders as well as the PCA attackers are all destroyed. The culprit is Raven, who took out both forces single-handedly with NIGHTFALL and desires to test the capabilities of the AC pilot who usurped their callsign. 621 prevails, impressing Raven's Operator, who vows to keep on eye on the usurper. Following the battle, Ayre informs 621 that the callsign "Raven" is actually a title that has been passed down by generations of independent mercenaries, all whom champion having the free will to choose what to fight for.[2]
In an alternative scenario, given that the player replays the story and sides with the RLF, Raven can also be encountered in "Defend the Dam Complex". The Rubicon Liberation Front requests the need for 621 to take out two top-ranked independent mercenaries: King and Chartreuse. After a couple of minutes, whether or not 621 manages to eliminate either AC pilots, NIGHTFALL will enter the battlefield to assist the Branch mercenaries in taking 621 out. Additionally, if 621 kills both mercenaries before NIGHTFALL enters the battlefield, Raven's Operator will express great shock at King and Chartreuse's swift deaths and wonder how the battle will end. The conclusion to the mission repeats the same dialog as when NIGHTFALL fell at the Old Bertram Spaceport.
AC NIGHTFALL[]
Raven's AC is a dark tan-grey biped known as NIGHTFALL. It is a modified RaD C-2000 Scout AC armed for all ranges, with a pile bunker in its left arm, a double-barreled grenade cannon, a three-cell dual missile launcher and an assault rifle. In the game reveal, MG-014 LUDLOW is only seen and equipped in the right weapon bay.
NIGHTFALL is the poster AC of ARMORED CORE VI FIRES OF RUBICON. It was prominently featured in the game's reveal trailer, along with the second gameplay trailer and an extended sneak peek. It is available as a figure in the Collector's Edition.
It mainly uses the rifle and explosives as suppressing fire, then the pile bunker will destroy the staggered target. The assault armor acts as a defense tool against melee weapons, when this works, NIGHTFALL charges the pile bunker to perform a counter attack.

Trivia[]
- In the ARMORED CORE VI FIRES OF RUBICON reveal trailer, NIGHTFALL is seen storing an RF-025 SCUDDER on its right weapons bay, in place of the SONGBIRDS it has in-game.
- The figurine of NIGHTFALL is equipped with a MG-014 LUDLOW on its right arm with the RF-025 SCUDDER stored on its right weapon bay.
- In the mission Illegal Entry, a MG-014 LUDLOW and a RF-025 SCUDDER can be seen on the ground right beside the NIGHTFALL wreck the player is required to scan as a mission objective.
- Raven's AC NIGHTFALL is most likely a pun for NINEBALL.
- Unlike King and Chartreuse who use more advanced parts on their ACs, the main frame of NIGHTFALL is the scout C-2000 made by RaD, which is not originally built for combat.
- The registration number of Raven's license, Rb23, resembles the chemical element Rubidium (Rb). It is at roughly the 23rd most abundant element in the Earth's crust. Rubidium metal reacts violently with water.
- Raven's encounter at the Old Bertram Spaceport and the Gallia Dam Complex mirrors the mission "Eliminate AC" from Armored Core 2: Another Age. In both games, the player is given the task to assist the allied forces that were mentioned in the briefing but finds them decimated at the scene; the culprit, the target Raven and their AC, is silent and menacing upon arrival. Notably, the Gallia Dam Complex contract inverses this reference; the two highly qualified AC pilots mentioned in the briefing, King and Chartreuse, are tasked to dispatch the target. If both die before NIGHTFALL enters the combat zone, Raven's Operator instructs their pilot to be cautious the same way the operator in Another Age does to her Raven (i.e., the player) before engaging the target.
- Raven can be seen as the successor to the second White Glint from Armored Core: For Answer, a similarity distinguished with the HC-2000/BC SHADE EYE having an alternative mode, same as WHITE-GLINT/HEAD.
- NIGHTFALL is the only AC Data preset to use the RF-025 SCUDDER Assault Rifle, PB-033M ASHMEAD Pile Bunker, and BML-G1/P32DUO-03 Dual Missile Launcher.
- In an ARMORED CORE VI FIRES OF RUBICON live action teaser, an unnamed character played by Karl Urban is seen with an AC resembling NIGHTFALL.

Speculation[]
The following information is "gray area" content — it may not be completely factual, and/or falls under YMMV territory.
- The live action teaser implies that Raven is, at the very least, physically portrayed by Karl Urban, but it is unknown if the live-action teaser is canonical; Raven is otherwise completely silent in-game and has no voice actor credited in either the English or Japanese voice casts.
