Emblem ACVI RaD

Company logo

Reuse and Development (RaD) is a black market arms dealer organization in ARMORED CORE VI FIRES OF RUBICON. They have a reputation for viciousness, and are known for assembling and selling their own heavily customized mechs made from the products of other manufacturers, such as BAWS.

Background[]

RaD was once a run-of-the-mill Doser group based out of Grid 086 in western Belius on Rubicon 3. That began to change three years ago, when "Cinder" Carla joined them. Only one year later, Carla seized complete control of RaD and quickly transformed it from a gang of Coral addicts into a major black market arms dealer.

RaD has a long-standing rivalry with another Doser group, the Junker Coyotes.

Parts[]

True to their name, many in RaD's product line are weapons and equipment normally found in the civilian sector, modified by their R&D team to function in field combat, many of which have particularly colorful and strange names attached to them, due to their organization's general lack of formality as seen in other corporations. That said, RaD does have a few parts and weapons purpose-built for combat, rather than repurposed equipment.

RaD AC parts tend to not have very good support systems, either for aiming, scanning, or optimizing energy output. They make up for this with sheer durability, stability, and incredibly low EN requirements. Their weapons are deceptively also powerful, thanks to both RaD repurposing heavy equipment made to tear apart metal or for deconstruction work, and Carla and their R&D department being more focused on pure destruction than practicality, creating some truly fearsome missile delivery systems not seen anywhere else. Finally, their boosters are specialized around vertical and/or quickboost movement with poor assault boost stats.

Translation differences[]

"RaD" is an acronym in the Japanese script and an initialism in the English version.

Trivia[]

  • Their name was first shown in the June 15, 2023 4-minute gameplay preview.[1]
  • It can be inferred that the second initial in the serial code of the parts denote who designed it: "C" for Carla, "B" for Brute, "R" for Rummy, and "S" for Stick.
  • Nicknames of RaD members are opposite to their characteristics.
    • Rummy and his AC are very far from invincible.
    • Brute is shown to be anything but honest.
    • Chatty is not very talkative and typically only talks as much as he needs to.
    • Carla is currently the only exception to this rule, as she actually was around before the Fires of Ibis, and survived them.
  • Promotional material description:[2]
RaD

A group of Rubicon natives who consume Coral as a thrill-seeking drug for pleasure and trade in it as a business. Those who profit from Coral trafficking are called "dosers".[2]
