Trooper is a Raven appearing in Armored Core 3. His rank is C-7 in the Arena. In the Extra Arena he is partnered with Regina and they hold the title of the twelfth ranked team.
AC Viper[]
Viper is a very agile middleweight four-legged AC equipped with an overboost core, ECM inside rocket launcher, anti missile extensions, a back radar, a back mounted grenade launcher, a pulse rifle and a laser blade that fires blade waves. In order to use the grenade launcher the unit needs to remain on the ground. It sports moderate armor but the main challenge presented comes from its mobility. Trooper uses it to great effect.

Gameplay[]
In-Game Information[]
Utilizing his AC's mobility to great effect, he runs rings around his opponents, patiently waiting for an opportunity to strike. He worries constantly about the well-being of his daughter, who ran away hoping to become a mercenary herself.
Strategy[]
Trooper is one of the actually well-rounded Arena opponents that demands some caution to deal with properly. He can maneuver his Viper AC to a competent degree so it is not easy to keep away from him, and his aiming skill is fairly average. He will usually start off by gliding toward you and circle strafing you while repeatedly firing his grenade launcher, which packs quite a punch so dodging this is essential. Be light on your feet and try to boost hop when anticipating the grenade shots. After a while of doing this routine, Trooper will resort to either shooting you with his pulse rifle or ECM rockets, neither of which are threatening per se, but the latter can give problems as it prevents you from locking on to him. For this reason, rockets are recommended to use against him, as they don't require lock-on and can still do substantial damage to him. Besides, Trooper rarely boosts when using his ECM rockets or pulse rifle so take advantage of this.
Another thing to note is that Trooper tends to fire off his grenade launcher prematurely, he often shoots before he has locked-on fully, and it requires him to stay on the ground to fire it. Tricking his aim and causing him to miss will make him waste a great deal of his ammo, making him easier to deal with as he will be forced to fall back on his other less dangerous weapons. Once he runs out of grenades, Trooper becomes much less of a threat, so long as you can dodge at least some of the pulse rifle shots you should be then home free to beat him.

Etymology[]
The name Trooper refers to the equivalent rank to private in a regiment with a cavalry tradition in the British Army and many other Commonwealth armies.
The name Viper refers to the family of venomous snakes found all over the world. All have relatively long, hinged fangs that permit deep penetration and injection of venom.
Trivia[]
- Trooper is hinted to be the father of the Raven Regina, because of their similarity in emblem and they are partnered in the Extra Arena. Regina's bio also states her father is a Raven, and Trooper's bio states his daughter ran away to become a Raven.
