Origin: Maldan City. Male, age 29.
The son of a mercenary, he decided to take up the family trade in the wake of his father's death. His reliable and studious manner and consistent combat performance earned him favorable recognition. Acquaintances suggest his father was a friends with Fatman, the famed Storker lauded as "the miracle-bringer".
Cypher is a middleweight reverse jointed leg AC equipped with a multitude of rapid-fire weapons. Among them include a KE rifle, a pulse machine, another pulse machine gun on the left hangar and CE medium missiles on the shoulders.
|Classification: Armored Core||
Cypher is one of the tougher opponents faced near the middle of the game. He has weapons of all 3 types to exploit any areas of weaknesses on your AC. Having balanced defense stats, preferably gearing towards KE and CE would help as Cypher can deal higher damage with his rifle and missiles. His pulse machine gun, while having high fire rate, lacks adequate attack power and ammo, so you need not place too much emphasis on TE defense.
Using a high mobility AC to try and flank him is a good idea, since Cypher is a heavy reverse joint and thus lacks the mobility it needs to keep up with quicker foes. He does tend to use boost drive a lot though, make sure he doesn't manage to get behind you or you'll be in big trouble.
As for dealing with Cypher, his craft harbors a good amount of KE & CE defense, but poor TE defense. As such, rapid fire TE weapons like his own or any other high-power TE weapon will be effective against him. In some cases, high power KE weapons like sniper rifles or even normal rifles can do good damage to him. In any case, the key to defeat Cypher is to outclass him in mobility (and firepower) and make sure he doesn't nick you too many times with his weapons.
- He is voiced by Bryce Papenbrook as one of the many opposing mercenaries in the game.
- Bryce is better known as the voice of Kirito from Sword Art Online, who once used the same snarky, cocky intonation as Wizard Grue to an enemy before fighting him in a duel (in Kirito's case, the antagonist Heathcliff).
