Wong Shao-Lung is a LYNX in Armored Core 4 and Armored Core: For Answer. His rank is #8 among the Originals and in Collared.

In-Game Biography[]

Armored Core 4[]

One of the very few elderly LINX still active, this wise and unwavering professor of war is also Mary Shelley's caretaker and guardian at BFF.

Armored Core: For Answer[]

This Lynx is shrouded in mystery, save for his connection with the BFF and his old age. He pilots a four-legged long range sniping craft, and refuses to stray from his support combat style, unchanged from the Dismantlement War.

Information[]

One of the more elderly LYNX, Wong Shao-Lung is a devoted member of BFF. His position within the company is never made clear, however it is very likely that he served as a mentor and support for the company's other pilots. He has been the caretaker of both Mary Shelley and Lilium Wolcott, and has maintained strict belief in company rule and the need for order. He plays an important role in the storyline of Armored Core: For Answer and is encountered as a possible enemy during the mission Defend Anti-Satellite Cannons. From his fight with Neo Nidus, it appears that the two have shared a history. It also becomes clear that Wong Shao Lung deeply respects The Raven's operator, Serene Haze. He supports The League and Collared unquestionably, condemning Wynne D. Fanchon as she disobeys orders from The League's top leaders after they were blackmailed and threatened by ORCA to turn a blind eye to the Closed Plan.

Wong Shao-Lung pilots a four legged NEXT designed for sniper roles. While his general strategy has not changed much, his NEXT has. In Armored Core 4, Strix Quadruped is a 049AN quad-based BFF NEXT, equipped with two rifles, a sniper cannon, long-range radar and jammers. In For Answer, Strix Quadruped is a 061AN heavy quad NEXT, equipped with a heavy sniper rifle, super-heavy sniper cannon, high speed multi-missile launcher with additional shoulder launchers, and a medium rifle.

Strategy[]

While quite easy on Armored Core 4, his complement of heavy sniper cannon and multi missiles make him much more powerful in For Answer, so this strategy deals with his For Answer version.

Ranked Match[]

Being a sniper unit, Wong Shao-Lung uses ranged engagements to his advantage and therefore, open maps are his forte. His multi missiles are very fast and therefore, popping up flares is often too late, unless the distance is very long. Both his sniper rifle and his sniper cannon deal considerable damage, and his sniper cannon also deal tremendous knockback, leaving you open for missile strikes. However, his overall Damage-Per-Second output isn't too high so a damage race in close combat is often successful. Be aware that he will always try to get as far away from you as possible and it is quite possible of him to damage you over time while you're busy chasing him.

Mission[]

If you defeat Lilium first, he will flee the battlefield, so you can completely ignore him. Plus, with Neo Nidus on your side, it is very possible that your combined might can finish off Lilium very quickly as to make Wong Shao-Lung a non-threat. Do remember that if you're engaging Lilium and you somehow rack up damage, get stunned, or bombarded by missiles, it is due to Strix Quadruped giving support fire. Again, however, dealing with him is completely optional.

An amusing sidenote; if you want to make the attempt to completely disable Wong Shao-Lung, before he manages to escape the combat-zone, you will find this to be an impossible task. Even if you manage to deal over 100 000 damage to his AP before he initiates his over-boost and flees the combat zone, he will in fact not be disabled and will still flee the combat-zone. Disabling Wong Shao-Lung is impossible during the mission because his escape is a scripted event that cannot be prevented, just like when White-Glint get's disabled during the Defend Line-Ark mission no matter how fast you try to down Fragile.

  • Neo Nidus' dialogue ("It's just like him to prepare an ambush") hints that he has fought Wong Shao Lung in the past.
  • The word "Strix" is latin for "barn owl". This is a reference to his emblem.
  • Wong Shao-Lung will always survive and flee in the mission "Defend Anti-Satellite Cannons", even if he is defeated before Lilium Wolcott.
  • In the Hard Mode version of "Defend Anti-Satellite Cannons", BFF's infamous Silent Avalanche sniper squad accompanies Lilium Wolcott and Wong Shao-Lung, along with an Eclipse Arms Fort.
