Xylem, the Floating City is a city built by the Rubicon Research Institute on the planet Rubicon 3. Once a physical representation of the prosperous future that the substance Coral could bring to humanity, the city was abandoned following the Fires of Ibis,[2] and by the time of the Coral War, it floats uninhabited in the Alean Ocean.[3]
History[]
Shortly after the Planetary Closure Administration's entry into the Coral War, the broker Handler Walter sends the independent mercenary C4-621 to survey the area while the major factions are preoccupied.[3]
Late into the conflict, the organization Overseer commandeers the Xylem for use against the Arquebus Corporation. In the Xylem's true form as a flight-capable colony ship, Overseer attempts to ram it into Arquebus' growing Vascular Plant to eradicate the accumulated Coral. Multiple factions converge on the Xylem in response for various agendas.[4]

Trivia[]
- The Xylem colony ship's city landscape resembles the SDF Megaroad-01 colony ship from Macross Flashback 2012, or less so the city section of the New Macross Class. Even the purpose of the colony ship is as same as New Macross Class, to emigrate humanity toward unknown planet.
